Quick--what are the crop, type, practice, and
insurance plan codes for irrigated processing apricots?
Don't worry if these numbers aren't on the tip of your tongue. You're perfectly normal.
It's difficult, if not impossible, to keep track of the nearly 800 crop/type/practice
codes for crops covered by MPCI. That's why we've added these crop code look-up pages to
the NCIS Web site.
When you click the link below, you'll see a web page that looks like a data entry screen,
and shows crop code information for one crop. This is the "Form View" page.
At the top of the page, you'll see buttons marked "Filter" and "List
View." If you click the "List View" button, the first 20 crop codes appear
in a columnar list. Use the buttons at the bottom of the list to page forward to the next
20 crops (by clicking the ">" button or the end of the list (by clicking the
">>" button). These same buttons are at the bottom of the "Form
View" page, but who wants to page through 800 codes one by one? When you're in
"List View," you can click the number to the left of any listed crop to see all
the data for that crop in "Form View." |
You could page though this list, looking at 20
codes at a time until you found the right crop/type/practice codes. But to find a
particular code faster, go back to the "Form View" and click the
"Filter" button to apply a filter.
When you click the "Filter" button, you see what looks like a blank data screen.
This is where you type in filter criteria. For example, to see all the crop codes for
corn, type "CORN" in the crop name field and click the "Apply" button.
Or, if you want to know what crop code 0212 is, type it in CROP- CODE field and click
"Apply." [It's avacado trees.]
You can even use some wildcard characters in your filter. For example, if you forgot how
to spell processing apricots, but vaguely remembered that it started with "PRO",
you could type LIKE 'PRO*' in the crop name field. When you apply the filter and click the
"List View" button, you see all the crops that start with "PRO." Sure
enough, just beyond the processing beans, there is (are?) processing apricots. You click
the number to the far left to see all the data for processing apricots in the "Form
View," and discover that processing apricots are crop code 0219, type code 997,
practice code 002, and insurance plan code 86. |
