Using Acrobat Reader with MS Internet Explorer 4.0

The NCIS Web contains many pages that are in Adobe Systems’ Portable Document Format (PDF). To view these files, you need the Adobe Acrobat Reader, which can be freely downloaded from Adobe’s website.

The Acrobat Reader works fine in Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0. However, some users of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 have reported a problem with using the Acrobat Reader vr.3.01 or older: PDF files open outside the browser after a link is clicked.

 How to solve the problem:

Try this first:

1. Start your Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 browser.

2. Click "View" on the menu bar.

3. Click "Internet Option."

4. Click on the "Advanced Tab."

5. Scroll down and find "Browse in a new process" and place a check mark there if it is not checked.

6. Click OK.

7. Close, then restart the browser.

 Try this and if the problem persists:

Download the newer version from www.adobe.com (Please make sure that you uninstall any previous version it might exist in your system prior to installing the new one.)

1. Start your Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 browser.

2. Click "View" on the menu bar.

3. Click "Internet Option."

4. Click on the "Advanced Tab."

5. Scroll down and find "Browse in a new process" and place a check mark there if it is not checked.

6. Click OK.

7. Close, then restart the browser.

 Try this and if the problem persists:

Download the newer version from www.adobe.com (Please make sure that you uninstall any previous version it might exist in your system prior to installing the new one.)
