Fall crop insurance deadline near
Georgia winter wheat growers have only until September
30 to sign up for federally subsidized crop insurance,
or to make any changes to existing policies.
Canola, oats, and barley share the same deadline.
This year, winter wheat growers have three different
kinds of policies from which to choose: Crop Revenue
Coverage (CRC), Group Risk Plan (GRP), and the
traditional Multiple Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI).
Canola, oats, and barley are all insurable with MPCI.
Not all crops are insurable in every county, nor are
all policy choices available in every county.
Producers wanting to learn more, to sign up, or to
make any changes to existing policies must contact a
crop insurance agent before the September 30 deadline.
