Fall crop insurance deadline near
South Dakota
winter wheat growers have only until September 30 to sign up for
federally subsidized crop insurance, or to make any changes to
existing policies.
Forage production
and rye share the same deadline.
This year, winter
wheat growers have five different kinds of policies to choose from;
Crop Revenue Coverage (CRC), Group Risk Plan (GRP), Income Protection
(IP), Revenue Assurance (RA), and the traditional Multiple Peril Crop
Insurance (MPCI).
Not all crops are
insurable in every county, nor are all policy choices available in
every county. Producers wanting to learn more, to sign up, or to make
any changes to existing policies must contact a crop insurance agent
before the September 30 deadline.
