Fall crop insurance deadline near
Washington winter wheat growers have
only until September 30 to sign up
for federally subsidized crop
insurance, or to make any changes to
existing policies.
Mint and alfalfa seed share the same
September 30 deadline.
This year, winter wheat growers have
three different kids of policies
from which to choose: Crop Revenue
Coverage (CRC), Income Protection
(IP), and the traditional Multiple
Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI).
Mint and alfalfa seed are insurable
with MPCI.
Not all crops are insurable in every
county, nor are all policy choices
available in every county.
Producers wanting to learn more, to
sign up, or to make any changes to
existing policies must contact a
crop insurance agent before the
September 30 deadline.
