New CD explains AGR-Lite
Free from PDA

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) has produced a new, free CD that allows farmers to explore how AGR-Lite insurance would work for their specific operations.

Adjusted Gross Revenue Lite (AGR-Lite) is a streamlined, whole farm revenue protection program that was created by PDA and is now approved in 18 states. Premiums are subsidized by the federal government under USDA's Risk Management Agency.

Included in the new CD are the many improvements to the program for 2006. The new-and-improved AGR-Lite qualifies more farmers, protects against more hazards, and has generally lower premiums than other types of crop insurance coverage.

The CD is a user-friendly tool that allows the producer to jump around to the topics of most interest. It also has links to RMA sites which allow the producer to calculate what various coverage levels will mean to his or her specific operation.

PDA hopes every interested producer will contact them about the CD soon because the sign-up deadline for new AGR-Lite policies is March 15.
