OVERLAND PARK, KAN…Sept. 21, 2011 – With only days to go before the deadline for signing up for crop insurance on most fall planted crops, some producers are still evaluating their options.

The September 30 deadline may pass with some producers taking no action. They may have decided simply to let their last year policies automatically renew for 2012.

Others may be thinking about raising their levels of coverage because the expected price for winter wheat is over $8.00 per bushel and barley is over $6.30. They are considering whether to insure a larger share of their expected revenue.

Either way, they only have until September 30 to either sign up or make any changes to existing policies. Anyone wanting help analyzing their crop insurance options should contact a crop insurance agent as soon as possible.
