Crop Insurance Specialist

National Crop Insurance Services (NCIS) has an immediate full time opening for Crop Insurance Specialist.

Company Description

NCIS is a not-for-profit actuarial, statistical advisory and training organization for the crop insurance industry.   NCIS is located in Overland Park, KS.

Job Summary 

Review and analyze existing MPCI policies, underwriting and loss adjustment procedures and recommend changes. Assist in the development of MPCI underwriting and loss adjustment procedures, handbooks and forms. Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, member companies and/or board of directors. Assist Regional/State Committees in explaining policy and underwriting information. Effectively communicate policy language, underwriting and loss adjustment procedures to member companies.

Requirements

Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work independently on multiple projects, and to work jointly with others, is required.  Ability to make technical presentations at industry conferences is also required.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, or comparable related crop insurance industry experience and/or training.  Experience in underwriting and/or adjusting MPCI losses, and an understanding of crop insurance products, agricultural production, and risk management, would also be beneficial.

The successful candidate will be expected to use a range of software packages, including Microsoft products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat. 

Individuals who have worked in a company environment and possess a working knowledge of MPCI products and an understanding of the crop insurance industry are encouraged to consider this position.
